Frequently Asked Questions
$2,500.00. Registration fee is non-refundable.
Our courses are delivered based on the NCTVET curriculum and offer one of more National Vocational Qualification of Jamaica – NVQ-J awards on successful completion.
Yes. Exam fees are additional for each NCTVET exam.
September, January and June of each year.
Classes are generally held one to two evenings per week, between 5:30 and 8:30 p.m.
Yes. All practical classes are administered online, with you working in your own kitchen. Your instructor will be right there with you guiding you through the process and providing instruction and feedback every step of the way.
Yes. Face-to-face workshops and/or practical sessions are included in all courses.
Yes. We place students for industry experience, but students can also organize their own placement, with the support of the Institute.
Students can organize their industry experience around their work schedule, while they are training or at the end of their training. Some past students have utilized their weekends or vacation leave to complete their required industry hours.
The industry experience is intended to enhance our students’ learning by providing exposure to a commercial kitchen and its operations. Students are expected to complete this exercise over the duration of their training, as it is a requirement for certification.
Yes, but of course this is subject to individual student performance and the availability of job openings.
